Gifted is a trilogy about three
young girls who are members of Mensa at
the tender age of ten years. They become
best friends.
Gifted as a Blessing is the
story of Natalie Wainwright, the miracle
child of wealthy lawyers David and
Sharon Wainwright. Her parents doted on
her, not by indulging her whims but by
encouraging her fertile mind. Being
highly educated themselves, David and
Sharon helped Natalie to excel at her
own quick pace.
Gifted as an Obligation is the
story of Sarah Graham, who represents
the most common Mensa children. She felt
she could never attain the level of
success expected of her, even with high
grades, so she became a perfectionist.
More was always expected of her than the
other children in public school.
Gifted as a Curse is the story
of Ellie Thane, who represents a third
Mensa archetype. Ellie sees her
intelligence as an embarrassment, having
been raised by a blue-collar working
father who resents her mind. He
chastises her for acting smarter than he
is.
The Gifted Trilogy is a
fascinating and realistic look at highly
intelligent children and how they cope
with the gift and curse of a brilliant
mind. It portrays them as both
exceptional and normal. The trilogy
takes the reader on a ride through the
lives of these three girls. Their
friendship, their camaraderie, and their
loves.
